SIZZLING LANKA
Sri Lanka, an island in the Indian Ocean and located south of the Indian subcontinent, is also known as the Island of Serendipity. This entire stretch encompasses beautiful tropical beaches, verdant vegetation, ancient monuments and a thousand delights to please all tastes. From sea level to 7000-foot high national parks, the country boasts of myriad geographical and climatic zones. A traveller to this country will never be tired of the constantly changing patterns of the countryside. It is easy to imagine, when travelling across Sri Lanka, why Marco Polo called it the finest island of its size in the world!
Kandy - The Hill Capital of Sri Lanka nestling among the misty hills in the central region of this paradise island is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Pinnawela houses an elephant orphanage which is home to about 60 elephants orphaned in the wild. Kitulgala is the place where the famous 'Bridge on the River Kwai' film was made. The beautiful tributary of the Kelani River, over which the bridge was built is still attracting fans to the town. Other attractions include Keleni Forest Reserve a bird watching location, white water rafting and trekking. Kitugala is a small town in west of Sri Lanka and it is in the wet zone rainforest, which gets two monsoons each year, and is one of the wettest places in the country. Also enroute observe the waterfalls, St. Clare's and Devon.
